NJOA suggests anglers take MAFMC survey

The Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council (responsible for management of fisheries in federal waters which occur predominantly off the mid-Atlantic coast) is looking for anglers to help in developing a vision for the future of our fisheries. The council is seeking our input through surveys and small group meetings throughout the region.

Over the last 35 years the Council has worked to rebuild its managed fisheries and is now determining how these fisheries should be managed in the future. The Council is building a blueprint for addressing long-term challenges such as maintaining productive marine ecosystems and the communities that rely on our region’sfisheries. The Council wants our feedback about what is working effectively, what is concerning us, and how we want our fisheries to be managed in the future.

One survey is general in form, while there are also fishery-specific surveys for fluke, sea bass, bluefish, porgies, and other managed species. This is your chance to critique and make suggestions to improve fisheries management.
