2005 Hi-Mar 40 Hour Fall Tournament:
Bass fishing in New Jersey is tough, the weather patterns kept consistent this weekend as it has in for the previous four consecutive weekends, rainy with high winds. The few captains who braved the elements on Friday night were rewarded with a small window of fishing prior to the strong east winds kicking up after 2am. The strong east winds and outgoing tide made conditions treacherous for captains to get to their planed destinations, once the wind and tide worked together the winds were blowing briskly at 25-30kts sustained. As of 6:30pm on Saturday night, the coast guard raised the Gale Force Advisory postponing the tournament, at which time captains had an hour and half to weigh their catch. Captains made the right choice as the winds increased during the day, since no fish were weighed after the 6:30pm Gale advisory was posted and the 8:00pm cut off time to make their fish official for the tournament.
Sunday at 6:30am the tournament resumed as the gale advisory was lowered to small craft. The leader board changed slightly due to the Nauti-boys which took first place in the tournament. Thank you to all participants, I hope to see you all next year starting with the Spring Tournament and again in the fall.

2005 Hi-Mar Jason's Dream for Kids Tournament:
With a grim rainy forecast we hosted the 2nd Annual Hi-Mar Striper Club Spring Tournament supporting Jason's Dream for Kids. We doubled the amount of boats that entered the tournament from the previous year, to a count of 50 entries. The boats that fished had to run in small craft conditions on the ocean for rough seas, but as the day progressed the weather improved, unlike last year. Capt. Bob Kamienski, of the Hi-Mar Striper Club, ran the KingFisher III down the beach to get into a hot bit of multiple bass over 30 pounds, the crew's top fish of the day took second place in the tournament.
The real winners were Jason’s Dreams for Kids as majority of the entry fees went to them and Monmouth / Ocean Food Bank where the fish weighed were filleted and donated to this organization.Thank you to all the participants that fished hard during this competition, this tournament continues to grew and we look forward to seeing you all again for out 40 hour fall tournament on October 21st - 23rd and in 2006.
