HI-MAR 2010 SPRING TOURNAMENT RESULTS:

The annual Hi-Mar Spring Fishing Tournament to benefit Jason’s Dreams for Kids was held Saturday and Sunday this year so tournament participants and the Hi-Mar members and their families could enjoy a big picnic at 2:00 P.M. with food donated from the restaurants and merchants from Highlands and surrounding towns. The picnic and pig roast was a huge success and even had a D.J.

The true winner of the Tournament was Jason’s Dreams for Kids as a large check was donated to them from the proceeds of the tournament, as well as, donations and the sale of tee shirts with numerous sponsors that were on the back.

The predicted thunder storms never materialized, but at times, the wind was a factor.

Two new tournament records were set on consecutive days. Emilo JR Santos, on Out on a Limb, brought in a 50.6 lb striper on Saturday only to be topped by Harold Smith on Scales & Stripes with a 52.1 lb. bass on Sunday. The fish was tagged and released alive after the weigh-in. Other fish weighed-in were filleted and donated to the Monmouth / Ocean Food Bank in Neptune to feed the hungry.

The tournament was joined by the American Striper Association, A.S.A., who were the weigh masters and did an excellent job with registration. Many thanks go to Ken Wente and his wife Kathy.
