Comments to make the Hi-Mar Flea Market better for 2008

Customer parking and flow - It is important we supply parking and easy access to the show. The VFW lot is large and we need to park vendor and Hi-Mar member vehicles in the rear. This allows people attending easy access to the entry of the VFW. Last year the committee monitored vendor parking and some vendors refused to move their vehicles, those vendors will NOT be asked back this year!

Diversity of speakers - Again we will provide an informative, educational and entertaining seminar series. This year we are adding a surf fishing speaker and a captains' round table. As a vendor if you have an item of good value that relates to the seminar provide a sample and I will endorse the product at the intro of that seminar.

No used tackle and the same vendors I see at every flea market - It has been our goal to provide a used tackle show. We will always try to find a space for that guy cleaning out the garage or the person that has sold his boat. If you know someone with used tackle send him our way we will offer him a table. Vendors do a little extra for our show, offer one item at a great value. If people depart the show with at least one value chances are they will be back and the word of a “good show” will spread.

The vendors and their friends get all the good buys before the door opens - We had this problem last year, people entering the show early with vendors, buying good values then departing before the doors open and the crowd arrives. Vendors must realize that this will not be allowed and their friends are going to cost them their spot at the show. Last year we did not ask back 1 vendor and this year 2 vendors have been warned. Vendor wrist bands will be issued and checked.

Your suggestions are very important to us, our goal is to run one of the best fishing flea markets in New Jersey and your input will help us do that.

Directions to Middletown VFW - Post 2179
The Middletown VFW is located in Port Monmouth directly off State Hwy 36 eastbound. Take GSP exit 117, get on State hwy 36 east for about 5.5 miles. At Wilson Ave you will see a Gulf Station, then a Food Town Shopping Center, and a Dunkin Donuts, Veterans Lane is immediately behind the Dunkin Donuts. TURN RIGHT. If you are traveling west on Hwy 36 you will see the Dunkin Donuts on the left just after Church Street. Continue to the Main Street jughandle and come back east on Hwy 36. Or you can park in the commuter lot on the westbound side, cross the Highway and walk to the VFW.
